If you love fishing, trout is a great catch in Indiana. Steelhead trout spawn in early spring, but start their migration upstream in September. So you have all winter long to catch these chrome beauties. Tip: Spinners, flies and shrimp are the best bait.

Yes, it happens in Indiana, fall means salmon fishing in northwest Indiana streams (Lake, LaPorte, Porter and St. Joseph counties). The fishing will be great by late September as the creeks cool and increased upstream migration to spawning beds occurs.

Join in the third annual Whitewater Walk, September 21-28. The Walk showcases the newly designated Whitewater Canal Scenic Byway. The byway begins at Hagerstown, in Wayne County, and runs southeast to Lawrenceburg (103 miles).
