If you like Native American history, then I have two great places for you to explore – Mounds State Park (Anderson) and Angel Mounds State Historic Site (Evansville). Both sites are early Native American earth mound formations, also known as earthworks. The mounds are believed to have been used for religious ceremonies and rituals.

Enjoy the great outdoors, but don’t want to sleep with Yogi? Then try a state park inn. They provide all the amenities: food, shopping, pools, game room and more in a wonderful rustic setting. I’ve stayed at all but one and had a great experience every time!

If you love fishing, trout is a great catch in Indiana. Steelhead trout spawn in early spring, but start their migration upstream in September. So you have all winter long to catch these chrome beauties. Tip: Spinners, flies and shrimp are the best bait.

Yes, it happens in Indiana, fall means salmon fishing in northwest Indiana streams (Lake, LaPorte, Porter and St. Joseph counties). The fishing will be great by late September as the creeks cool and increased upstream migration to spawning beds occurs.
