With New Year’s comes new beginnings and in Brown County there is always something new. Perhaps best known for it’s autumn grandeur, Brown County is a great year-round destination, even in the midst of winter. Running Cold…

When faced with a long run on a cold day, I’ve found the promise of a new adventure is a good motivator. I recently made a trip to Strawtown Koteewi Park, located just west of State Road 37 about fifteen minutes northeast of Noblesville in Hamilton County (northeast of Indianapolis). The place is literally a botanical melting pot that was apparently sculpted by a wave of massive slow-moving glacial sheets.
Okay, I’m no expert on glaciers either but that’s [...]

Hiking Turkey Run and Shades State Parks!

I’m a hiker – not an extreme hiker – but I love a good jaunt. Two of the most recent jaunts were in Turkey Run and Shades State Parks. Located a half hour or so a part from one another and about 2 hours West of Indy, they have some great easy, medium and rugged [...]

Morning Wade by ZaMoLex
During the long Independence Day weekend, my wife and I spent Sunday morning hiking at Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park. Located just nine miles from downtown Indianapolis, you’d never know you were so close to the city. Fort Harrison was decommissioned as a military base in 1991 and five years later, became [...]
